What is the LGPD? #
Brazil’s Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados (LGPD), furthers Brazilians’ rights to privacy by giving consumers an effective way to control their personal information. The LGPD applies to any organization or business that collects consumers’ personal information within the country of Brazil, regardless of where in the world the data processor is located.
At its core, the LGPD is similar to the GDPR and the CCPA. However, these three regulations are distinct enough that companies with customers in Brazil need to examine how they treat their data in alignment with the LGBP.
WebMaxy and the LGPD #
As a privacy-centric company, WebMaxy welcomes these developments in privacy legislation around the world. In order to ensure we have all of the required controls in place, both internally and within our service, we are currently working with a Brazilian based law firm to assess our processes, policies, and service.
We have undertaken the necessary updates to our Privacy Policy and to our internal processes in line with the requirements of the LGPD.
